24 de Abril às 22.55h. Transmissão da canção "E depois do Adeus", interpretada por Paulo Carvalho, marca o início das operações militares contra o regime.
25 de Abril às 00.20h. "Grândola Vila Morena" de José Afonso, é a senha escolhida pelo MFA, como sinal confirmativo de que as operações militares estão em curso e não podem voltar a trás.
Foi derrubado o regime político que vigorava em Portugal, desde 1926, sem grande resistência das forças leais ao governo, que cederam perante o movimento popular que rápidamente apoiou os militares. A revolução foi conduzida pelos oficiais (capitães de Abril) que, na sua maioria tinham participado na guerra colonial. E o povo saiu à rua... Transformando o cravo no símbolo desta revolução. O povo começou a distribuir cravos vermelhos pelos soldados que depressa os colocaram nos canos das espingardas. (Hoje o cravo está associado aos partidos de esquerda) O 25 de Abril foi um marco histórico. Graças a ele temos o bem mais precioso: Liberdade de expressão. (Dificil estas gerações mais novas entenderem). O passado é história e o futuro cada vez mais futuro. Que viva o 25 de Abril, obrigado pela liberdade, mas vamos ao futuro!E vocês mais jovens, serão o futuro deste País.
